Backpack Program
It  is time again for us to support our Backpack Program!! On January 24, 2012 (Newton Conover vs. Bandys), we will be accepting 3 items on the attached backpack items list in lieu of the admission price.  All donations will go to our elementary schools for their backpack program.  Please spread the word to the community!!!       BACKPACK PROGRAM ITEMS


Spelling Bee
Congratulations to Tucker Clark winner of the South Newton Spelling Bee!  The runners up were Brendan Young, Rachel O'Neal, Nate Doty, and Ezra Toney.  We are so proud of you all!  Tucker will represent South Newton at the District Spelling Bee. Kontras Quartet
 The Kontras Quartet, the resident string quartet of the Western Piedmont Symphony, performed for the South Newton students on Thursday, December 8th. They played music from several locations around the world, including Russia, South Africa, and Japan.  
Andrew Wade, Child Ambassador
Andrew Wade, South Newton student, was named Child Ambassador for the Piedmont Area Shriners. There was a ceremony on November 4th at the Hickory Metro Center.

Principal of the Year 2012
Congratulations to Julie Styers!  Mrs. Styers has been selected to be the Newton-Conover City Schools 2012 Principal of the Year.  She will now advance to the regional competition and we are confident that Mrs. Styers can continue to the state level!!  Again, congratulations and best wishes!
Technology Spotlight
Power Truck
Students enjoyed a presentation by Duke Power today.  They learned all about the power truck and learned about the safety measures  the workers have to observe.
